The work scope associated with this project included drilling and installing a series of monitoring wells along the perimeter of a former landfill. Work also included the repair of existing wells and flush-mount monument covers that had sustained damage since their original installation. Hollow-stem augers were used to advance to the top of rock while collecting split-spoon samples with an auto-drop hammer. Upon refusal, the borings were cored using a wireline system to a depth of 30 feet.

A series of soil borings developed by direct-push drilling were used to define the horizontal extent of LNAPL material associated with the historical manufacturing processes conducted at the complex. Twenty-four borings were advanced inside the plant through as much as 40 inches of concrete at each location using the drill rig’s hydraulic-hammer concrete bit.

The work scope associated with this project included drilling and installing a series of monitoring wells with stick-up covers and protective bollards along the perimeter of an active landfill. All wells were designed in accordance with State of Tennessee standards for the construction of permanent monitoring wells.

PHASE II ESA

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Client Type: Consultant

Phase II Environmental Site Assessment. The only access to the boring locations was on a lift gate through the loading dock. Once inside, the crew used a concrete bit to quickly and efficiently hammer through the concrete floor slab at each location and continuously collect soil samples. This work was associated with a real property transfer of a major commercial property in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
